Celebrating 90 Years at Our Annual Picnic
The Clan MacLeod Society of Glengarry marked a very special milestone on June 14th as our annual picnic celebrated the 90th anniversary of the Society. Despite the rainy weather, members, family and friends gathered for a wonderful day of fellowship, music, heritage and celebration.
The day opened with the East Hawkesbury Gospel performing a selection of favourite gospel music. Their performance provided a warm and uplifting start to the anniversary festivities.
Following the music, guests enjoyed a luncheon together, complete with a special 90th anniversary cake to commemorate this important milestone in the Society’s history.
Our guest speaker for the day was Jim MacLeod, who added to the celebration with his presentation. Another special moment was the presentation of a bursary to Alison Jones, in recognition of her representing Canada at the Clan MacLeod Parliament in Scotland this past summer. We were very proud to recognize Alison and her connection to the wider MacLeod family around the world.
The afternoon concluded with a lively celebration of our Celtic heritage featuring singing, fiddle music, and pipes and drums. Performers included the MacLeod Fiddlers, Quigley Pipe Band, Darryl and Allen MacLeod, Brad MacLeod, Kenzie MacLeod McRae, and Donaldson MacLeod.
Although the rain may have changed some of our plans, it certainly didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits. It was a wonderful day of music, friendship, family and MacLeod pride — and a fitting celebration of 90 years of the Clan MacLeod Society of Glengarry.
Thank you to our performers, speakers, volunteers and everyone who joined us and helped make this milestone anniversary such a memorable occasion.
Clan MacLeod at the Glengarry Highland Games
The Clan MacLeod Society of Glengarry was proud to take part in the Glengarry Highland Games on August 1, 2026.
Our booth in the Clan Building provided an opportunity to showcase a variety of MacLeod memorabilia and share information about our Clan, its history and the activities of our local Society. Visitors were welcomed throughout the day to stop by, learn more about their MacLeod heritage, chat with members and purchase memberships in the Society.
The Highland Games are always a wonderful opportunity to celebrate Scottish culture and heritage, reconnect with familiar faces and introduce new people to the Clan MacLeod Society of Glengarry. We were pleased to once again be part of this great Glengarry tradition.
